Jack Waldron Social Grant
In Memory of Jack Waldron
JW, or just Dub as he eventually became, was an old man when everyone met him. Sure there was that pic on his locker from years ago looking young and carefree sitting atop a classic Harley; but we never knew that man. He was the surliest person who always greeted you with a smile. Jack asked about your life, about you, and discovered what you cared about. He got to know people. Since he was old and not bankrupt, as far as we could tell, he handled the money. If you needed something you went to Jack. He asked how the activity benefitted the patrol, was this important to the ski patrol, and would we create memories to cherish afterwards. He carried the ‘fund’ in a locking leather money bag and doled out 20s to fund your event. He calculated need and social benefit in his head. This grant honors the OG holder of the money, the man who defined social benefit, Jack, JW (Dub), Waldron.
This grant awards up to $3,000 to an Alta Ski Patroller who submits an application demonstrating a commitment to supporting social events for the ski patrol community.
The application should describe the event(s) to be funded and how they will benefit the ski patrol community.
