“Live as if you were to die tomorrow.

Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Chenoa Plank Memorial Scholarship

“CC”, as friends and family knew her, was born and raised in Utah. She was a lover of nature, a conservationist, and an ardent adventurer. She lived her life with an insatiable curiosity for what might lie around the next bend in the trail or river, beyond the next false summit, or what secrets she might discover dropping into the next snowy chute on a “pow” day. Her energy and warmth were captivating and she instantly made friends of strangers. Chenoa was an accomplished violinist and competitive fiddler. She loved canoeing, climbing, mountain biking, fly fishing, and motorcycles, but her deepest passion was for skiing. From backcountry skiing to racing, her first love was telemark. Chenoa loved living life to the fullest and was an ardent believer in education.  Her battle cry was “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Chenoa, like a snowflake, was unique and beautiful, ever the harbinger of the joy that will be. We will miss her, and think of her every time we explore her secret fishing holes on the Eagle, Green, and Missouri, her haunts in the Rubies, her favorite routes at Maple and The City, and her hallowed trails and traverses at Alta.

The Chenoa Plank Memorial Scholarship assists individuals living, working, and playing in the Wasatch Mountains who seek education to begin or continue careers as mountain professionals. The scholarship is geared toward aspiring and current ski patrollers or search and rescue professionals - crucial first responders in ski accidents and avalanche rescue. The Plank family's appreciation for search and rescue professionals, coupled with Chenoa's love of all things Alta were the catalyst to establish this scholarship fund. Chenoa's family hopes that this program provides current and aspiring patrollers/rescuers opportunities to accomplish the education and training required in pursuit of their career goals.
